Mazinger Z: Death Match Short Film by Daniele Spadoni

Okay, I must admit, I am a huge fan of giant robot anime. From Robotech to Transformers – if it had giant robots in it, I was probably plopped down in front of the television to watch it. This was my childhood, shoot it is sometimes my Saturday mornings as an adult. I never outgrew […]

Five Commodore 64 Homebrew Games That Rock

The Commodore 64 was a gaming computer from the 80’s that just wouldn’t quit.  Initially not intended to be a gaming computer, the fans simply made it one through the openness it offered.  Commodore was not one to shy away from this series of events, though they did continue on their original plan for it […]

Silent Hill Lives on in Half Life 2 through Alchemilla Mod with Oculus Rift Option

Silent Hill is one of those franchises that appeared during the 32-Bit Sony Playstation days that simply has not died, at least till recently.  Konami recently announced that the new Silent Hill title is more than likely not going to see the light of day (in Silent Hill, was there really any light?).  The horror […]

Type in Program- Flappy Bird for ZX Spectrum Available in Old School Method

The old days of gaming on computers was all about typing in programs out of magazines such as Ahoy, Compute! and Compute!’s Gazette to name a couple I am very fond of myself.  These magazines are a thing of the past but their legacy lives on, history repeats itself, etc.  These were programs that other […]

New Game: Princess Quest Ported to the Mattel Intellivision, Release Imminent

The Mattel Intellivision is a console that was not all that well received by the gaming community of the early 80’s but that has not stopped homebrew developers from continuing to support it.  One such homebrew publisher is Collectorvision (we like these guys as evidenced here).  Princess Quest was originally a Colecovision title, another console […]

Bandit Gaming: Super Castlevania IV Reborn In Dire Straights

Okay, fan made games, homebrew, indie, whatever you call them, are sometimes cool.  Such as Super Castlevania IV Reborn, which was intended for various computer platforms.  While still in an early part of development, it is interesting to look at where Super Castlevania IV Reborn was heading.  This was basically a reworking of the original […]

New Game: Dokingan Reminds PC Gamers What Bullet Hell Shooters are like

When it comes to arcade style, overhead or side scrolling, shooters the console market is the clear cut winner.  The PC world simply does not get many of this style of game.  In the past we have seen a few though, some of the Raiden games have been ported (though in extremely low resolution) and […]

New Game: Paco Jet Released by the Mojon Twins for the Nintendo Entertainment System

Paco Jet, originally released on Covertape #2 by the Mojon Twins is getting slight name change to Jet-Paco and is now available on the Nintendo Entertainment System.  Jet-Paco is not a scrolling shooter but rather it is a side scrolling action puzzle game, similar to Solomon’s Key.  Since this is the Mojon Twins, you know […]

Kickstarter: Component Cables for SNES and Genesis Now Underway

As time passes, it becomes more difficult to get your classic systems hooked up to newer equipment. HDTVs want HDMI or Component video input, and if you’re stuck with the standard Yellow/Red/White Composite cables that came with your 16-bit system, you might be out of luck. No Super Castlevania IV or Sonic 2 for you […]
