Left Behind – New Game Released for the ZX Spectrum

It’s always nice to see that our beloved computers and games consoles are still receiving no software after 30 years, and this time, it’s the ZX Spectum that has a new game. Left Behind has just been released and is the second game to enter the recently announced ZX DEV-Conversions programming competition.

Crash Annual 2018 Smashes its Kickstarter Target

A Kickstarter campaign for a new issue of Crash magazine was launched in the past 24 hours and has already surpassed its target goal. This means that a 99th issue of the classic ZX Spectrum gaming magazine will be published in annual form just in time for Christmas 2017.

ZX Spectrum Next Promised New Dizzy Game in Final Kickstarter Week

One of the hottest properties in retro gaming, a new Sinclair ‘Speccy’, is entering its final week on Kickstarter as I type. And putting the icing on the cake—or the egg in the meringue, to coin a phrase—is today’s surprise announcement from legendary British 1980s game creators, the Oliver Twins, of a brand new Dizzy game […]

Next Sinclair ZX Spectrum Launched on Kickstarter

A brand-new Sinclair Spectrum home computer has been launched, just in time to celebrate the 35th birthday of the iconic original 48k British gaming classic. This latest and most promising homage to Sir Clive Sinclair’s classic ZX Spectrum+ has been dubbed the ‘Sinclair ZX Spectrum Next’ by new UK manufacturers SpecNext Ltd. The company has its […]

Top 5 ZX Spectrum Games

Well, to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the humble ZX Spectrum, I have decided to compile a list of my five favorite games. They will probably not be the ones most people would pick as I’m just weird. The games chosen are the ones I have poured the most hours into personally, so they may […]

The rarely-seen but often talked (or complained) about Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega+ was spotted in the wild at the weekend by a Retro Gaming Magazine contributor. The controversial console, which has been subject to extended production delays and much legal wrangling since company directors fell out in a major split last year was seen – […]

Trouble in Vega+

Retro Computers Limited had some success with the ZX Spectrum Vega, which was an emulated machine in a ZX Spectrum style case with a directional pad and four keys. The machine came with several games–over 1,000 according to the press release–but you could also add games by putting them on to a SD card. Some […]

Bandit Gaming: Dragon’s Lair Laserdisc Ported to Commodore 64

The Commodore 64 is a computer that is close to my heart as a gamer.  I had other computers prior to it, I also had gaming consoles around but none were as cool as the C64.  From playing Alternate Reality: The Dungeon to playing Temple of Apshai and Sword of Fargaol on it, I had […]

New Game- Zombi Terror Brings The Walking Dead Adventuring to Classic Computers

The Walking Dead is an interesting hit for A&E Television, a station that is kind of new to the zombie genre.  On one hand it is completely outside of their comfort zone for content and on the other it fits right in with the current motif of action shows.  The team at Kabuto Factory are […]

Bandit Gaming- Dragon’s Lair Running on Sinclair ZX81

Alright, homebrew coders are getting scary with some of these projects they are creating.  Sure, Jim Bagley may not be your normal definition of a homebrew coder since he used to work for Ocean Software.  He got Dragon’s Lair running on a Sinclair ZX81 at the recent Retro Computer Museum Valentine’s Event 2015 show.  How […]
