Five Side Scrolling Game Boy Advance Games You Shouldn’t Miss This Holiday Season
November 1st, 2014
Carl Williams Sure, the Game Boy Advance is an older portable and can be had for quite a cheap price now so that makes it the perfect gift for a cash strapped family that have gamers in the house wanting to game on the go. Not everyone has $150+ for the latest portable devices, then $30+ per […]

New Game: Rise and Shine Mixes Alien Hominid and Metal Slug to Create New Game
July 13th, 2014
Carl Williams Just from the title alone you can tell there are some pretty big shoes to fill with this game called Rise & Shine. Just watch the video for a bit of a level that showcases a lot of different play mechanics mixed together. It is interesting to say the least.

June 30th, 2014
Nick Abrams Contra. Metal Slug. These are the games that come to mind when you want to play a run and gun shooter. Well, I am going to add another name to that list. Alien Chaos 3D. Yeah, I never heard of it either until I saw it on the shelf of my local game store. But, […]

GBA Platforming Underdogs Six Pack
June 15th, 2014
Carl Williams This post was originally made available on Gaming on Nintendo on July 7th, 2013: The premise for this article is that it could not be a huge movie success license, made by Nintendo (so no Mario/Wario/Kirby/Donkey Kong/Metroid) and it had to be a 2D side scroller that was pretty much ignored on the shelves. The […]

May 18th, 2014
Carl Williams The Neo Geo was known for great arcade games that catered to many gamer tastes, at least early on. There were racing, fighting, action and adventure games available on this SNK arcade behemoth. That is before fighting games really took off. One such action game, Top Hunter, borrowed a little from the Fatal Fury fighting […]

Review: Metal Slug Defense on Android
May 4th, 2014
Carl Williams SNK Playmore are opening up a bit with their games, proof being this one, Metal Slug Defense for Android and iOS. This is not the normal Metal Slug all-out action that gamers are used to but instead, the Metal Slug world retrofitted into a Tower Defense engine. The funny thing is, it works.

Metal Slug Brings Super Detailed Sprite Art to Arcades – April 19th, 1996 – Today in History
April 19th, 2014
Carl Williams Sprite work in titles like Metal Slug will always overshadow their release date in history. While consoles continue to get more powerful, detailed sprite work will often age quite well. SNK knew going in with the Neo Geo that arcades were going to be important. Arcades represented the largest market share for the console, and […]
