What do you picture when you close your eyes and think of a casino? For most, it’s James Bond swirling a martini in the glittering opulence of the Monte Carlo Casino, while surrounded by villains in suits and femme fatales. It might be the bright lights of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. But some of us […]

Sams Journey NES Teaser Released, Changes Spotted
June 1st, 2019
Carl Williams Sam’s Journey is an interesting game that debuted on the Commodore 64 to great fanfare. If you have seen, or better yet played, the C64 version then you have a good idea why it received the praise it did. The question on most fans minds was, where is the Nintendo Entertainment System version? Well, it […]
Axelay Nintendo NES Port Tech Demo Released
March 26th, 2019
Carl Williams Axelay was one of those titles that Sega simply did not have anything to compare. Konami apparently did not have faith in the series either as only the lone Super Nintendo game was released – no sequels like Gradius received. Such a shame because the idea and execution of Axelay was impressive. Surely this dual […]

Carl Williams It is almost like the Nintendo Entertainment System was not a commercially dead platform considering all the new games seeing release for it lately. Piko Interactive is one such company to bring support to Nintendo’s first console. They have three new Nintendo NES games that are now available for pre-order.

Fans Create 100 New Bubble Bobble Levels
January 16th, 2019
Carl Williams Ah, level hacks. One of the more interesting hacks if you ask me. Sure, more characters are nice, such as the various Streets of Rage 2 hacks we feature from time to time, but those are the same levels. New levels means new challenges, new adventures, and of course, more fun for fans. That is […]
SimCity Discovered, Archived, for Nintendo Entertainment System
December 26th, 2018
Carl Williams It is not all that common that I get to discuss an actual Nintendo developed prototype discovery so this one is very interesting to me. Couple that with the fact that I was a huge fan of the Super NES version of SimCity and this news gets even more fun for me. I remember idly […]
Pac-Land Diverges Pac-Man Formula for Arcades – December 25th, 1984 – Today in Video Game History
December 24th, 2018
Carl Williams Let’s go back to a simpler time. The 1980’s. A time when the rumor mill was alive and well, the Internet was a science fiction trope, and arcades ruled. One title that ruled the arcades in the early 80’s was Pac-Man by Namco. By 1984 though, the yellow dot eater was running long in the […]
Super Mario Bros Two Player Hack Released
November 11th, 2018
Carl Williams Back in the day, consoles came with two controllers and at least one game. Depending on which version of the Nintendo Entertainment System you purchased, you could have gotten as many as three games packed in. Most people got two, Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt (and the light gun as well in the box). […]
NES Metroid Receives Unofficial HD Enhancement Pack
August 18th, 2018
Carl Williams In the news recently we have seen Nintendo cracking down on ROM distribution sites. This is unfortunate because without these sites preserving the history of gaming (either legally or not) we might not have improvements on those classics such as this HD enhancement pack for the original Nintendo NES. That would be a sad day.
