The number of times I can count that an action game was remade into a role-playing game is low. Nintendo did it with Super Mario RPG and SNK did it with Samurai Shodown RPG. Other than those two examples I am out of references. While Monster World RPG is not an official release, it is […]

Apple IIe Receives New Role Playing Game Lawless Legends Independently Developed Game
August 7th, 2016
Carl Williams Will independent developers ever give up on classic hardware like the Apple IIe or Nintendo Entertainment System? I personally hope not. One big reason is seeing the release of titles such as Lawless Legends for the Apple IIe. Decades after Apple themselves gave up on the IIe, independent developers are still supporting it with new […]

November 7th, 2015
Carl Williams Okay, I am a retro gamer from the old days. I have been playing since the days of Pong into the Atari 2600 era through to today. When the crash happened I just thought it was a resetting of the industry- it kind of was. During my younger years I was a huge fan of […]

April 5th, 2015

January 28th, 2016
Carl Williams When you have someone on staff like Yu Suzuki you have to let them spread their wings and fly. With Sword of Vermillion that is exactly what Sega did. This was Yu Suzuki’s first console exclusive title, sadly it was not exactly a sales record setting release. Sword of Vermillion was a few game engines […]
Final Fantasy IX Returns Series to Fantasy Era on PlayStation – November 13th, 2000 – Today in Video Game History
November 12th, 2020
Carl Williams Final Fantasy IX was one of my favorite role-playing games (RPG) on the Sony PlayStation console. It was such a great game, one that returned the franchise to its roots in the fantasy era. Previous entries had a heavy futuristic/science fiction slant to their stories. While those were fun, there is just something about the […]

July 14th, 2020
Carl Williams Today in 2003 – Bioware was battling deadlines and the expectant retaliation of fans of the Star Wars universe. The release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) was a big move. They were also battling the stigma that licensed games simply did not live up to expectations. Cross genre titles are also […]
