Anyone that has even gotten to the final boss of the original Ninja Gaiden knows, it is quite a stupifying frustrating ordeal. Mainly because of the problem with how deaths are handled. When your character fails, and this will happen A LOT, he is sent back to the beginning of level 6-1. That sucks.

January 25th, 2015
Carl Williams The Konix Multisystem was quite a beast, had it been released, that could have at least been an interesting purchase for gamers. The biggest draw of this vaporware platform is that it would contain nearly every conceivable accessory that you could think of inside and ready for use. Yeah, not a big thing to hitch […]

Carl Williams Atari once ruled the gaming landscape. The problem is, they had no teeth in their tigers so to speak. Once it was proven in court companies like Activision could make games without working with Atari it opened the gates for the earliest third party developers to spring up. Many might think that it was this […]

Carl Williams You’ve probably already heard that the classic Nintendo console has returned. The new NES is practically the same in design, but only cuter than before. It’s called NES Classic Mini and it’s the official relaunch containing 30 classic hits and most loved 80s games ever.
Strider Downhill Runs Into Arcades – Today in History – March 7th, 1989
March 7th, 2016
Carl Williams This is one of those titles that MADE us goto the local arcade and drop more than we wanted into it, one quarter at a time. Capcom really hit the nail on the head with Strider- it is a classic in every sense of the term. Graphically, Strider holds up quite well, especially the arcade […]

Michael Crisman It’s been ten years since the theatrical release of “Revenge of the Sith”, and once again the Star Wars machine is making the jump to light speed. July 1st, 2015
Michael Crisman As the tropes go, there’s hard, and then there’s Nintendo Hard. The distinction is easily understood by anyone who grew up in the 8-bit era, but the tradition continues to this day with games like Super Meat Boy and I Wanna Be The Guy. Nintendo Hard games aren’t made that way by flipping a difficulty […]
Revenge of the License – Darkman
June 7th, 2015
Michael Crisman People give props to Sam Raimi for his most excellent Spider-Man film and often credit him for reviving the sagging comic book movie market, but Raimi didn’t cut his teeth on comic-like heroes with the wise-cracking webslinger. Twelve years before directing Tobey Maguire through his transformation into Kirsten Dunst’s boyfriend, Raimi put Liam Neeson through […]
Revenge of the License: Friday the 13th
March 15th, 2015
Michael Crisman Seven months ago, I took at look at Domark’s Friday the 13th for the Commodore 64 as the second installment of this column. Back then, I didn’t realize how much fun I was going to have with this series and I wasn’t sure if it would continue much past two or three installments. Reaction, however, […]
