Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern Sees Commodore Amiga Release

Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern Commodore Amiga

Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern is a new 2D side scrolling action platform game for the Commodore Amiga. In Wiz, you take control of the last elder wizard and must find the Magic Lantern before it is too late. You are not unarmed in your quest as you have your book of magic and potions available to you. You will need every trick in your hat to complete this quest as the world ahead is dangerous.

Good old-fashioned action platforming

When you think of 2D action platforming games you probably think of Mario and company. Me too. That franchise is synonymous with the genre and for good reason. Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern has that little bit of extra charm most 2D games are missing.

There is a lot of animation in Wiz. That is awesome. For instance, one area most titles in this genre mess up is the jumping animation. Wiz has separate animation for going up and down. There is also a squatting animation when your wizard lands. Put it all together and you have a nice sequence that adds a, seemingly, minor bit to the game.

Take the walking animation, again, extra frames for his nose and hat. Both move with each step and bring a bit of realism to the game.

Walk into or out of a door and you get unique animations for these actions. In many other games in this genre animations like this are simply not implemented.

The devil is in the details as the old saying goes. Thankfully, Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern pays attention to them.

Where to get it Wiz and the Magic Lantern

Thankfully, the developers/publishers behind Wiz Quest for the Magic Lantern are forward thinking. They realize not everyone has a working Commodore Amiga computer laying around. They have made the game available digitally and in physical format. Of course, the physical format comes with extras, like a nicely designed box.

This is a title that our friends over at Indie Retro News have been covering for a while now. Go over there and give them some clicks and show some support. We are all in this together.
