Earthworm Jim 4 gameplay footage was recently released. For those that do not know, this is a console exclusive for the soon to launch Intellivision Amico. Tommy Tallarico is spearheading this revival of the Intellivision brand. Console release is still tentative at April 2021 (Coronavirus impact). Interestingly, the original team behind this game have returned for the fourth installment.
A worm by any other name is not Earthworm Jim
Back in the 1990’s we saw the release of one of the most gross commercials ever. Gaming or anything else, that commercial turned more than a few stomachs. Those with iron intestines were treated to a 2D side scrolling action adventure that was quite memorable. The Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis were both privy to two entries. Those that owned a Sega CD were treated to a special edition with some console exclusive content.
There was also a PC release that compiled most of the console content into one game.
Known for witty humor and wild antics, Earthworm Jim was unique to everything available. Unfortunately, this franchise would be sucked into the void of 3D gaming and seemingly ended there.
Looking good Earthworm Jim
As you can see in the gameplay video above, Earthworm Jim 4 is looking quite good. The animation is quite smooth and shows off fluidity a bit.
We see Jim come into the game world as only he can, not graceful at all. Still funny though. Worthy of note here is the animation transition to gameplay. The swap is quite seamless and hidden well.
There will apparently be tons of parallax scrolling here. Foreground, background, you name it, there is probably parallax scrolling for it. Quite cool.
Now let’s see some environment interaction in the next vid, please?
Intellivision Amico exclusive

Carl, you’re better than this. We all know Tommy is a better funded Mike Kennedy, a mental 12-year-old with a dream of owning a big-boy Videogame Company someday.
Better than what? I am covering a new game here. No biggie. The reason Amico coverage is lacking is because not many RGM readers read that content. At least versus other articles made available.
This article took off, I believe mainly due to fans of the game, not the Amico itself.
That is why I have not spent much time covering this console as a whole.
