Arcade Racing Legends by PixelHeart is one of the latest new games for the Sega Dreamcast. This is a racing game that calls back to many racing classics, some by Sega and others not. This is also a Kickstarter success story.
Arcade Racing Legends looks good
While Arcade Racing Legends is not as visually impressive as some commercial racing games, it is still impressive. Fans will have the opportunity to race singles and competitive matches in split screen. Obviously when racing in split screen the graphics take a slight hit. Nothing new there.
There are 15 cars and six circuits to test your capabilities on. There is also a career mode to accompany the duel mode. Do not care to race a friend or other, computer controlled, opponents? Check out the time trial mode then.
Doing things differently
The way PixelHeart are handling Arcade Racing Legends is slightly different than most publishers. First, there are only going to be 3,000 physical copies available, according to GameRant. Collectors, and eBay resellers, will want to grab a copy early because once these are gone, they are gone.
There will be a manual and game disc in the package along with a certificate of authenticity. For most fans that wanted in on the fun of Arcade Racing Legends, this is probably bad news. 3,000 copies is not a lot and could easily sell out extremely fast.
It is interesting to note that PixelHeart have many releases for the Sega Dreamcast that are not limited releases. At least they have copies left if they were limited releases in the past. I wonder why they are limiting this release to 3,000 copies?
There is no word, currently, on whether there may be another version released with changes. That would make sense to me but I am not sure just how large the Sega Dreamcast game market is at the moment. Maybe PixelHeart know something about this?
