Final Shell Shock Sees Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Invade Streets of Rage on Sega Genesis

The Final Shell Shock TMNT Streets of Rage 2 Sega Genesis

The Final Shell Shock brings the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) to the world of Streets of Rage. This is an alternate timeline, alternate universe, tale of Streets of Rage 2. That gives the game a bit of leeway to play with. While we are lacking on exactly what details are not canon here, some universal basics are clear. There are four turtles, Shredder is still fine with kidnapping, and Rocksteady and Bebop are along for the ride. In fact, this is apparently the first time Bebop has graced the Sega Genesis. There is more than that making The Final Shell Shock adventure worth it.

The Final Shell Shock is more than basic

Most Streets of Rage 2 hacks feature one or two, maybe all four, characters getting swapped. That is usually where these hacks end. Not so with The Final Shell Shock. The TMNT team are here in full force and ready to kick some shell.

Even little details such as food items are changed accordingly. For instance, apples are gone, and pizza slices replace them. Of course, they would, this is a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hack.

The TMNT team are here

The turtles themselves are great and fit the overall Streets of Rage 2 game world quite well. I did notice, and you can see in the embedded video, that there are differences. It does not seem that Michelangelo has a double hit jump attack like the others. If he does, I was unable to get it to work.

Some of the boss enemies have been swapped out as well. As mentioned already, Shredder is here, as well as Rocksteady and Bebop. I am not sure if there are any Foot Soldiers in the mix as I am still working on playing through the Final Shell Shock. I also don’t want to ruin too much for those that have yet to try it.

You can grab The Final Shell Shock hack on ROMHacking.net, unfortunately, I cannot link to the SoR 2 ROM. For more Streets of Rage 2 fun, check out these hacks and improvements.
