Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest entry in the popular fighting game franchise. As the number there suggests, this is the eleventh entry in the main series. At this point I am sure the spin-off games are probably not considered canon. Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath is the upcoming expansion that is bringing plenty of extras. Additional Friendships being one.
Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion
Running on a very modified Unreal Engine 3, Mortal Kombat 11 initially saw release on April 23rd, 2019. This was the entry that brought Fatal Blows and Krushing Blows to the franchise.
Aftermath will bring new fighters as well. Fujin, RoboCop, and Sheeva are all inbound now. Yep, soon you will be able to recreate RoboCop vs Terminator from the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis days. Well, not quite, as this is not an action run and gun but a one-on-one fighting game. Still though, you will be able to finally prove which is better in a fight – Terminator (Arnold version) or RoboCop (the original, not that remake crap).
Friendships make things better
Friendships were first introduced in Mortal Kombat II in reaction to the public outcry over violence. Gamers could perform a Friendship throughout the franchise up to Mortal Kombat 3 and Trilogy. It was not long before this option was dropped from the franchise along with “Babalities”. Babalities allowed you to turn your opponent into a baby as the name suggests.
Some characters had a form of Friendship related Fatality move in Mortal Kombat X. With Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath the finisher will make an official return.
The Friendships shown in the video above are over the top. Jax plays the saxophone while Arnold’s Terminator rides by on the iconic motorcycle from T2. As you would expect, Friendships are supposed to be funny and different. They are just that versus normal methods of ending the match.
