Samurai Shodown fans will want to check this one out. A new challenger is coming on May 13th, 2020. She is paid Downloadable Content (DLC) so if that is a turn off, we understand. For those that are still interested, get ready for the third character in the Season 2 Pass DLC.
Samurai Shodown introduces Iroha
Voiced by Jun Miruno, Iroha brings a new fighting style to Samurai Shodown. The press release mentions her style is as graceful as a crane. Check out the game play video below for a better idea of the butt whipping she will provide.
Cell shading is in again
Samurai Shodown features an art technique known as cell shading. It is a style you either love or hate. I personally think it is cool in moderation (I can see it as annoying if overused). The recent Streets of Rage 4 release also used cell shading for its graphics.
What is interesting is how cell shading is used. It is quite apparent in Samurai Shodown. This is probably because the fighters are so much larger and “in your face”. In Streets of Rage 4 they are smaller characters.
Long living franchise
Samurai Shodown is one of those long-life franchises. Starting in the 90’s this franchise has endured and grown with most of the releases. Fans of armed combat mixed with Street Fighter 2 will love this franchise.
Getting Iroha
Iroha will be available on May 13th for modern platforms. That means owners of Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox, or Nintendo Switch can get Iroha.
If you prefer purchasing your characters individually then Iroha will be available for about $6. PlayStation 4 owners can get the Season 2 pass for about $14. Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Xbox gamers will have to pay about $20. The difference is, PlayStation 4 owners only get 3 characters. Check these articles out for more fighting fun.
