GoldenEye 007 Getting Fan Remake Treatment

GoldenEye Nintendo 64 Goldeneye 25

Currently going by the name GoldenEye 25 this remake is coming along quite well. Currently using Unreal Engine 4, this remake is slated for release in August 2022. While we have no clue if this will be shut down before then, it is still an awesome effort so far.Wait till you see the screenshots.

GoldenEye 64 was awesome with friends

One thing that set GoldenEye 64 apart from anything on PlayStation or Sega Saturn was the multiplayer. You and up to three of your friends could get together and shoot each other while eating Domino’s pizza and drinking Pepsi. Those times were amazing, I miss those days. We simply did not know how good we had it back then.

Single player was even cool – how many other games allow you to literally step into the shoes of James Bond? You had a lot of his gadgets and weapons which added to the immersion factor. It was revolutionary and it was fun, two things that aren’t often found together in gaming.

Current state of GoldenEye 25

Considering GoldenEye 25 is still about a year and a half away there is not a lot to show off. There are a few pics and a couple vids showcasing small changes to the overall 007 world. Last year we covered it here and these new updates are just more awesome.

Now, honestly, if the team behind GoldenEye 25 get a cease and desist (C&D) letter it would arguably be rather easy to adjust this into something else. There is not a lot here that screams James Bond or GoldenEye 64 other than a few screens and familiarity of fans with the original.

Dark Side of Gaming has a few work in progress screens that are worth checking out. Check them out after the jump.

If you are a diehard James Bond fan then check out this merch that Amazon has available. Want a copy of the original on Nintendo 64? Check eBay out. Both are affiliate links that will give us a small commission when you make a purchase (no additional cost to you). We thank you for your support.
