New retro gaming book, Blast Annual 2020: Vol 1 is now live on Kickstarter.

The focus of Blast Annual 2020: Vol 1 book is all about community, coding, computers and consoles.

Inside backers will find a wide collection of retro gaming articles covering a variety of retro gaming platforms including Atari 2600, Commodore Amiga, Amstrad CPC, C64, Commodore Plus/4, MSX. NES. SMS, ZX Sepctrum and ZX Spectrum Next. It’s a celebration of the retro community people, events and games released in 2019. Some are even calling it a year book.

Noted gaming and retro veterans including Andrew Fisher, Gordon king, John Davies, Brian Matherne, Dougie Mcg, Andy O’Flaherty, Frank Romero, Louie Dimovski and Michael Thomasson are the main article writers, but Blast Annual is all about community – with people from all over the retro gaming world having written articles and game reviews for the publication.

If the kickstarter goal is reached by April 5, 2020, Blast Annual 2020: Vol 1, will be a stunning 200 plus pages hardback book with page layouts created by legendary gaming industry graphic artist, Lobo.

Over 40 features articles and more than 80 new games have been reviewed in the first volume, there is plenty of awesome retro game and community reading for everyone.

There will be tributes to retro gaming heroes. Coverage of retro gaming events throughout 2019 including demo party results. Game dev contests and results of 2019 are covered namely the Basic 10 Liner contest, ABBUC: Atari 8-bit game contest, NESdev, Halloween Amiga / C64 compo and the RGN: C64 game award of 2019 featured.

Game reviews are extensive. The Blast Annual game review philosophy is a very simple one: We want to review as many new games as possible across as many 8-bit and 16-bit systems. We have primarily reviewed games released in 2019 with a few games released outside of 2019.

We strive to be positive with our game reviews. We have set up a template that includes the following criteria:

✰ Information about the developer.
✰ Gameplay.
✰ Likes.
✰ Dislikes.
✰ A Verdict.
✰ Followed by a rating.

Our game reviews comprise a mix of two page, one page and mini reviews. If a game is rated between 85% – 89% this receives the BLAST ANNUAL HOT award. If a game is rated between 90% – 94% this receives a BLAST ANNUAL SCORCHER award and if a game is rated 95% – 100% this receives a BLAST ANNUAL INFERNO award.

Apart from purchasing the Blast Annual 2020: Vol 1, you will also receive a FREE digital game by prolific game developer, Misfit, called Crazy Blaster V1.2, on Amstrad CPC, C64 and ZX Spectrum.
