Amazon Resurrects Ducktales Remastered with Discounted Price

Ducktales Remastered Disney Capcom

Earlier in 2019 Capcom took Ducktales Remastered down from all digital platforms. This caused a surge in interest in obtaining the physical edition across platforms such as eBay and Amazon. In an odd series of events, Amazon has relisted Ducktales Remastered, and at a severe discount. I have no idea how long this deal will last so grab it while you can – if you have an Xbox 360 (sorry PlayStation, Steam, and mobile gamers, your out on this one).

Gotta love digital

It was never really explained why Ducktales Remastered was taken down in the first place. That leaves fans guessing as to the reason. I for one think it was licensing. The term of the contract simply ran out. Physical copy contracts are usually tied to a certain platform/number of copies made and then are done.

Digital leaves the door open to theoretically see sales forever so there obviously must be a time limit introduced. I believe this is what happened to force Capcom to take down Ducktales Remastered in the first place.

That means a new license is in place

Interesting that we are seeing Ducktales Remastered make a return now. Even more curious, it is only on Amazon. Then only on Xbox 360. Go ahead, click on this link to check out Ducktales Remastered on Amazon. It is $3.75 for the digital version.

You will see other options available as well, including Nintendo Wii U and PlayStation 3. The difference is, those platforms only offer the physical edition from 3rd party sellers (many not eligible for Prime). You will notice those 3rd party versions are much higher in price as well.

I wonder who paid the licensing to make this happen? Was it Capcom, if so why not swing a deal for more platforms which would increase potential sales (I would buy it for PlayStation 3 myself just to support it). I am guessing there was a deal involving Amazon here as they are the only digital option available (they have no reason to share with the competition).

Why just one platform?

We are talking about a game that was available digitally on Steam (for PC’s), Xbox, PlayStation Network, Windows Store (PC and mobile), iOS, and Android. I have already bought digital copies on Windows Store and Android, what is one more in the name of supporting a game I like?
