Are you a fan of the Final Fantasy games from Square Enix? Have, or plan on getting, a subscription to Xbox Game Pass? If so, you are in luck because Square Enix is bringing the franchise to the popular Microsoft gaming service.
What is included
Square Enix is including the following Final Fantasy titles:
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster
Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XV
Considering the way they broke out certain titles with “HD Remaster” or “Remastered” I have to believe the version of Final Fantasy VII is going to be the older one. Probably from Steam and not the newer HD remaster.
A nostalgia franchise without the real nostalgia
For some reason Square Enix is not including the first six Final Fantasy titles. Many of those titles received remake status on various newer platforms such as iOS and Android to mention a couple. Their not being included here is weird. Am I missing something?
Everything I could find on Xbox Game Pass does not show the first Final Fantasy titles as available. I understand it is a rotating library of titles but still, leaving out the first six titles of a franchise such as Final Fantasy is a little weird.
All I can think is they figure fans won’t be interested in them? This could be the reasoning as the titles planned to launch, starting in 2020, are all newer titles that have more modern graphics.
