Recently I covered the announcement of The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening remake for the Nintendo Switch over on YouTube. Nintendo just made available some additional details about this remake, this time information on what fans can expect in the “limited edition” version. Fans will want this.
Nintendo is not really known for this type of thing. Sure, they did remakes and such back with the Super Nintendo, well, one game – Super Mario All-Stars. They did a remake, of sorts, of the first Metroid game for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance years later. On the DS/3DS/Wii/Wii U they have done a few remakes for Super Mario adventures. Now on the Nintendo Switch they are doing a remake of The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening from the Game Boy/Game Boy Color original.
Included in the limited-edition version will be a special steel book carrying the distinct look of the original Game Boy. This is quite a cool addition and certainly will have fans salivating at acquiring one when this releases on September 20th.
There is one catch though. As of right now, according to the Twitter announcement replies, Nintendo really means limited edition. If you are not in the United Kingdom, then good luck in securing one of these without paying high scalper prices (that we know are going to occur).
Sadly, this limited edition will be out of reach of a lot of fans. There is still a chance that a similar setup could be made available in other regions such as North America and Japan. Nothing on that has been announced though so don’t get too excited and quote me on that. Just saying, it could happen.
For now, fans of The Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening will have to do with a standard edition that we will surely get in North America.

That’s great news. I remember back in the day playing the original and now my children can get a glimpse of my childhood. But to be honest I better like the idea of continuing the new story, and that’s why BOTW https://rawg.io/games/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild sequel is much more interesting for me right now.
Dreamers edition for NA, dude. Game and the art book, no steel case. Honestly, I’d say get the gb money bank off eBay and throw it in there. Looks about the same.
