Development continues on Streets of Rage 4 and with that comes more screenshots of the game and its progress. At least there are more screens to look at, though I am sure many would prefer video of the game in action, or a demo. On with the new screens, all six of them.
For those that do not know, Streets of Rage 4 will be coming to modern platforms such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (no PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 version). Fans of the brawler category of fighting games are already either loving the new art style or hating it – there is no real middle ground for those graphics.
Me, on one hand I like it, on the other I hate it. For instance, what the hell happened to Axel? I thought his last name was Stone, not Rose (I know, the first name is spelled differently but they share a similar body style now).
The question now is, did Sega wait too long to do this? Should they have continued the franchise at least with the Sega Dreamcast? If you believe early development videos that have surfaced, Sega was at least entertaining a Streets of Rage 4 game on the Dreamcast but it was scuttled due to concerns over quality (it looked pretty bad). Maybe they were right in waiting to do this sequel.
I am interested in Streets of Rage 4, even though I am more of a Final Fight fan myself (only the first game). Maybe some day we can get Capcom to give us a proper sequel to that classic brawler and fans can relive the 16-bit era again on modern platforms.
So who is excited for Streets of Rage 4? You will have a bit of a wait as it seems they will be trickling out media till the end of time (the life of a fan looking forward to a games release).
