Streets of Rage 2 by Sega is viewed as one of the best brawlers ever to be released. If the support from fans is any indication, this could be pretty accurate. Anyone that has been a fan of RGM for a while has probably seen one of my other Streets of Rage 2 articles. Well, I am back with more, this time a video as well which this article is accompanying. Here are five more Streets of Rage 2 hacks that you don’t know about.
First up is the Sailor Moon hack. This one stands out because of the fact that the enemies have quite a bit of variety to them. Some appear to have just come from the local high school sports event, complete with pom-poms and others appear to fit in with the Streets of Rage 2 cast slightly better. Just be prepared if you take this one on, the hit box is a lot smaller for your attacks. This can lead to some frustration.
Next we have the Looney Tunes hack. Yes, the Looney Tunes. A franchise that you would think would have had a brawler game to their name by now. This one doesn’t change much outside of your character. I chose the witch, Hazel, who rides a broom around the level and throws axes. Her sprite is not complete though as the pickup item animation switches to an in-game character because the modder did not include that animation. Small annoyance but still jarring. Also, her axe attacks feature weird hit boxes which can lead to frustration as enemies crowd you.
Any fans of Mortal Kombat? Yep, there is a hack including the Mortal Kombat crew. From Shoa Khan to Sub-Zero, odds are your favorite is included. What is cool about this one is, the modded characters almost fit in with the more cartoon based enemies. Almost. The hit boxes are more realistic, to mean they are smaller, so be prepared for that. Also, the enemies look like they were disemboweled when you knock them down. Nice touch.
Girls Paradise is, as the name implies, is all women. Regular enemies are women, your character choices are women, and it is just women everywhere. Characters come from many different games including King of Fighters and Street Fighter II. Size differences with many of the enemy sprites is off a bit which can be annoying. Chun Li will not pick up weapons, she will just drop them, but she is extremely powerful, almost to the point of being comical, against the enemies you face.
Finally, I give you, the Power Rangers edition. Well, technically, the White Power Ranger edition. Why? There are rumors that the actor that portrayed the white ranger (and the green at one time) is going to make his wrestling debut sometime in 2019. That made it easy to decide to include this one here. I would like to see more Power Rangers mods for Streets of Rage 2 as they fit really well. Maybe mix in some enemies from the show to create a cross over style feel with the Streets of Rage 2 enemies.
