Hellbound is a new run and gun platform action game by Marvin Hardy. This new title is coming to the Commodore 64 sometime soon, hope against hope that it is this year but I understand if it is next year sometime. As gamers we sometimes have to wait for the fun stuff. Considering the age of the Commodore 64 it is awesome to see new, original, games still coming out for it. Especially games that are not just more ports of Tetris or Solitaire.
Hellbound pits you against the forces of Hell itself. You play as an angel that has entered Hades under the guise of being a demon yourself. Your goal is to free the souls that have been stolen.
Each room has platforms for you to jump on and collect souls by shooting the skulls that will release the person chained to the walls. Once the soul is released, a door will open allowing you to enter the next chamber to do it all again.
Hellbound would be a simple game if that was all you had to do.
Nope, there is more. Each chamber has demons floating around that will end your life quickly if they catch you. Thankfully these demons are not all that smart and stick to their paths in the room.
Your weapon is completely useless against these demons so your only choice is to avoid them. This adds a lot of strategy to each room as these demons are fast.
Hellbound is still in development for the Commodore 64 but coming along nicely. Check it out in the video above.
