When is the last time you heard about a new Nintendo Entertainment System game? If you are an avid retro gaming fan, and why else would you be here, then you hear about them somewhat often. Trophy is just one more interesting title that I feel compelled to bring some positive coverage to. Fans of Mega Man are going to love this one.
While Trophy is not 100% a Mega Man clone, the similarities are quite clear. First, you are obviously controlling a robotic character, or someone in a suit, and the enemies.
The enemies are very robotic in nature, at least so far.

There is also the way that dispatched enemies leave the screen which screams Mega Man.
Gradual Games are working on Trophy right now, a title they have been working on since January 2016.
Here is a GIF released in mid-March 2018 showing off a boss fight.
Our new game Trophy has been in development since Jan 2016. Prob still 1-2 years left of dev, but we’re finally where we can start showing some progress. Here’s a boss from the game. Enjoy! #screenshotsaturday #nesdev #neshomebrew #indiedev #indiegame pic.twitter.com/s8VOsI5gnU

A little bit of history on Gradual Games:
They started working on Nintendo Entertainment System homebrew in 2008, about 10 years ago. That is quite a long time to be working on unofficial games (Nintendo is not exactly licensing NES games any longer).
Gradual Game is in Pennsylvania within the United States.
You may be familiar with other games from Gradual Games such as Owlia and Nomolos: Storming the CATsle. Both of those titles are Nintendo Entertainment System releases (and are currently free as ROM downloads on the Gradual Games website).
Interesting 2D side scrolling action games are hard to come by in today’s homebrew independent world. Trophy is already shaping up nicely already and there has only been short GIF’s released.
Check out the Twitter feed for Gradual Games, it is a treasure trove of support for fellow homebrew independent developers working on content for many platforms.
