Did you know that a fan has recreated the interior levels from the Super Nintendo Jurassic Park game called Visitor Center? They are doing it for Windows and Mac OS computers over on Itch.io and you can grab a demo of their work in progress for free. What is there is rather interesting already.
The biggest difference between the original and the Visitor Center remake is that the remake is a full screen affair while the Super Nintendo game was limited to a much smaller portion of the screen. As much of the original was used in the recreation as possible, including sprites and artwork.
The developer behind Visitor Center put in a lot of effort to recreate the levels that we all enjoyed from the Super Nintendo game. This includes recreating the levels with graphing paper. Anyone that played role playing games during the 1980’s will appreciate the dedication shown here.
Over on Itch.io there is even a short development log available for anyone interested in going more in depth in the process of recreating these levels.
There are still more petty things to do before Visitor Center is “done” such as door animations and the like. What is here is quite good. Fans of Jurassic Park should check it out.
