Sega Forever Adds Another Sega Genesis Classic

Beyond Oasis Sega Genesis

Sega Forever, for those that do not know, is Sega’s ad supported free games initiative (don’t worry, you can disable the ads with a single In App Purchase). It is a great idea, though it has its detractors, mainly fans that bought these games already and now are forced to use the ad supported version (or pay again to remove the ads). Sega has been quite steady with releasing new games to this line on both Android and iPhone. This week is no different.

Beyond Oasis was basically Sega’s answer to the Legend of Zelda series, though it was graphically more impressive it was not all that well received by fans. I lived through it. I saw the game sit on shelves at both Electronics Boutique and Software Etc. because no one was buying it, even though clerks were pushing it. It is a major shame too.

Now more gamers can get a chance to play Beyond Oasis, maybe for the first time, on their iPhone or Android device. For many, taking Prince Ali through the game world will be a breath of fresh air and an awesome experience. To those fans, welcome, games like Beyond Oasis are more common than you may think.

Maybe the whole Sega Forever line will end up being a good introduction to some classics for most gamers. A whole new era of fans that are discovering classics like Beyond Oasis for the first time.

Other games in this style that are worth your time include:

Crusader of Centy (Sega Genesis)
Soul Blazer (Super Nintendo)
Neutopia I and II (Turbo Grafx-16)
Y’s Books I and II (Turbo Grafx-16 CD-ROM)

There are a ton more games that are action role playing games that you can check out that are not Zelda (if you are one of the few that are not fans of the classic Nintendo franchise). You are in for a treat that is not going to be beaten within an hour, that is for sure.
