With all the recent hype surrounding the C64 Mini, it’s nice to see some releases for other 8-bit computers. And with Space Escape, we have a new action puzzler platform game to play with on the ZX Spectrum.

While on a deep space exploration, you (the player) are ambushed by a fleet of hostile space craft. With a bright flash of white, it seems that the exploration has come to and end. However, you regain consciousness within the confines of an alien base. while the alien robots scavenge through your ship, it is the perfect time for an escape.

Dubbed by the author as a “mini-Spectroidvania-style” game, Space Escape is classic platform action where the player has to explore the alien base for the ship’s launch key, laser gun, and ship fuel. Unfortunately, the hostile aliens will also need to be negotiated with along the way. The game features over 35 rooms to search, multiple tasks to complete, an open level design, and hidden secrets.
