Capcom have just released Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition for iOS platforms such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The latest edition of the long running classic one-on-one fighter promises more options and updates to previously released editions. Fans of the franchise–which kicked off big time with the release of Street Fighter II in the arcades back in 1991–will be interested to see how this latest game fares on the portable devices.
According to the game’s App Store page, the game features 25 Street Fighter characters (including fan favorites Ryu and Ken, three new characters, and six more coming as free updates), higher resolution graphics and wide screen support, intuitive virtual pad controls allow players to execute full move sets including Unique Attacks, Special Moves, Focus Attacks, Super Combos and Ultra Combos, option to battle head-to-head against players from around the world via Wifi, single player “arcade” and multiplayer modes, super moves with a tap of the “SP” button, four levels of difficulty, and more.
We haven’t had a chance to play the game yet, but if it’s as half as good as its legacy and the screenshots available then it will be some game. And the controls are, apparently, easy to learn with the use of the touchscreen incorporating an analog stick and four buttons.
Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition is available in the App Store for $6.99 and will play on iOS 10 platforms and upwards. Check the game’s page on the App Store for the full list of iOS devices that the game is compatible with.
