Fans Port Wolfenstein 3D to Commodore 64 – Bandit Gaming

Okay, before we get too far into this article, this is not a normal Commodore 64 they ported Wolfenstein 3D to. There are a few pieces of additional hardware required to make this one run on actual hardware, or just use Winvice 3.1 if you don’t have actual hardware available. With that said, let’s discuss some Wolfenstein 3D.

25 years after the release of the original, we are seeing fans still porting it and supporting it on new platforms. Even if those platforms are older than the game. The Commodore 64 version is running with some assistance. The SuperCPU V2 features 16 megs of RAM so this is quite a bit beyond what the stock hardware C64 can do.

What is here is quite interesting. It is, of course, a little shy on colors but the animations are there and scaling of the surroundings is pretty decent. Turning is a problem apparently as most of the videos available showing this port off feature jerky left/right movement. That is a small consolation to deal with though.

Check it out here.
