To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Sega CD cult classic Night Trap, Limited Run Games will be releasing a remastered version sometime this spring.
Back in 1993, the game stirred up controversy with its scantily clad teenage cast and its campy horror movie violence. The political ballyhoo resulted in the creation of the ESRB game rating system that is still in use today. Depending on who you ask, this game is either the greatest B-movie FMV ever created or it was a just another terrible release during an era in video games that most people would like to pretend never existed.
The game will be available for download on the PS4 and Xbox One. For the collector, a physical copy will be available from Limited Run Games with the option of cover art from either the Sega CD or Sega CD 32X version. To get you into the slumber party mood, the developer Screaming Villains is offering a free download of the Night Trap theme song in all its 90’s pop-synth glory.
