The Nintendo Switch is burning up the sales charts lately, and Nintendo, along with key third parties, are working hard to keep new games coming. The games listed are not all of the games coming out for the platform – just the ones coming to the Switch eShop digital service.
Maison de Maou/Unholy Heights by Mebius is not confirmed for a North American release at this time, but it is available in Japan now. Considering the localization that happened for the Nintendo 3DS version, it is very likely we will see this one hit the U.S. based console too.
Kamiko by Flyhigh Works and Skipmore is also available in Japan and is playable in English. Potentially coming to North America via Circle Entertainment.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap by DotEmu is hitting April 18 globally. This is a 2D side scrolling action adventure that we have had our eyes on for a while now.
Thumper by Drool is hitting in Japan sometime in May. Previously, this game was confirmed as coming to North America, but there was no release date – could be a dual language release in Japan like Kamiko above (and many others so far).
De Mambo is coming to Japan in June with a potential North American release after. Previously mentioned as a title coming to the platform, De Mambo did not have a release date.
The Nintendo Switch eShop is unique as game publishers in Japan have been including English versions of their games for many of the releases. This goes against the grain that we have been taught to accept since the Nintendo Entertainment System launched in the mid 1980s. I am not complaining about it in any way though.
Which game are you most interested in from this list? For me, it is easily Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.
