Okay, there is a lot of fanfare about Battle Princess Madelyn, and for good reason. Many compare it to Ghouls ‘n Ghosts by Capcom, and that is also for good reason. This game is full of action and deadly creatures waiting to end your game early. Oh yeah, this one may be heading to that new Nintendo console but right now, it is on Steam Greenlight and needs your help.
Pulled from the press release: When Creative Director Christopher Obritsch daughter Madelyn wanted to be in Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, and fight “Green Head”, he said it was someone else’s game – but he could make her one that was like it. “But girls can’t be knights, Daddy. Only boys…” she said, to which he answered “Pshh…What color do you want your armor to be?”. The answer? Pink! And that’s how this game started. Chris’ daughter Madelyn loves the first stage of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and makes him play it over and over because she wants to see him fight “Green Head”, the Shielder boss at the end of the first stage. It’s not hard for her to twist his rubber arm, as it’s been his favorite game since it came out all those years ago.
You are not alone in your quest as your pet dog accompanies you on your quest
Powered by the Unreal Engine, Battle Princess Madelyn is a 2D side scrolling action adventure that remembers how games used to be. This is not going to be an easy adventure and retro gaming fans would not have it any other way.
Battle Princess Madelyn features 10 levels each with up to five stages each, some with hidden stages that are replayable after you have beaten it; this will help with finding every crevice and secret contained. You are not unarmed in this battle, though, as there are 10 weapons for you to use in your quest to end the various creatures that stand in your way.
I am personally excited for Battle Princess Madelyn as it is not often we see these types of games come across the web. I previously covered Battle Princess Madelyn in “5 Indie Titles Prove 2D Still Lives” (November 2015)
