Thimbleweed Park, the spiritual successor to the classic LucasArts point and click adventure games such as Maniac Mansion and The Secret of Monkey Island (Thanks Aaron), has just received some major updates. For those that do not know, Thimbleweed Park is a new point and click adventure that was a Kickstarter success story (covered here) from the guys responsible for the previously mentioned LucasArts classics (interview here). Now as the game continues development, we have just received word on some cool updates: new screens and a game play video. All after the jump.
Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick have crafted a new story that calls on your wits to solve a mystery. Thimbleweed Park a nice little secluded town and there has been a murder. At least, here is a dead body floating in the river. The whole town is stuck in the past, just which era is up for grabs though. Things are not what they seem and the people are sometimes weirder than you can imagine. That doesn’t change the fact that a crime has been committed and now you have to solve it.
The game play video shows Thimbleweed Park running on the iPhone platform. This is pretty cool as it shows that the game is progressing and how controls will work on touch devices (about like you would think). The screenshots also convey quite a bit of the atmosphere of Thimbleweed Park, in all of its pixelated glory.
Fans of classic point and click adventure games will want to keep an eye on Thimbleweed Park.
