If you have been reading Retro Gaming Magazine for a while then you know I love giant mech games. I also enjoy strategy titles. Combine the two and leave me be for a few days (I wish). That is exactly what Antraxx is- a giant mech strategy title but they have added multiplayer to the mix. This is great news for fans of the genre. What is even better though is the fact that a multiplayer demo is now available.
“Antraxx is a game that is unlike any I’ve played or developed in the past. It mixes retro pixel art with modern rendering techniques for a truly immersive experience— oh and it has giant robots. What’s not to love about giant robots? After years of blood, sweat and tears we are incredibly excited to release our game to the public. We hope to see you on the battlefield!” — Sam Hellawell, Cofounder and Lead Developer
I covered Antraxx earlier this year in January. In that article I made reference to Battletech on the Sega Genesis. Yeah, if you know that title at all then you have an idea of what the visuals in Antraxx will offer. Isometric, giant- customizable, robots battling it out in strategic mayhem.
The big news here is that multiplayer demo that is now available. I have not checked it out yet but will be doing so this weekend. That gives anyone that is interested a few days to practice before I am able to drop in and play. If you do decide to take the multiplayer challenge up, post in the comments your screen name and we will see if we can meet up and have some rounds in Antraxx.
Antraxx is still on course for a Fall 2016 release.
