The developer behind the rather interesting Papi Commando, a homage to Capcom’s Commando, is back with a new title. Bomb on Basic City is a flying title that tasks you with destroying your own city. This is not what you think though. You are destroying your city so that you can take it back.
The premise of Bomb on Basic City is to fly over the buildings and drop bombs on the buildings. Once all of the buildings are destroyed you move to the next level. As you fly by the city your plane drops about four pixels on the screen. Don’t miss a building with bombs though as you will crash and lose a life.
There have been games in this style over the years but Bomb on Basic City has something those games did not. Charm. Papi Commando, and his wife, end up having to quickly leave their home because of the C++ invaders. With a tear in his heart, Papi realizes that he has to destroy his home city to run out the C++ invading army.
The controls are fairly simple. Your plane flies on its own leaving you to drop bombs. You can speed up, and slow down, your plane and with the help of powerups you can even fly back up into the sky. Other powerups offer the ability to drop more than one bomb at a time or have a short lived shield against enemy fire (happens in later levels).
Second Dimension are handling publishing of Bomb on Basic City for the Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive. Current projection puts the release date “sometime this summer”. As we know more we will update you.
Papi starred in another game, Papi Commando which was covered here on Retro Gaming Magazine many times over the last couple of years. Interesting, both Bomb on Basic City and Papi Commando were created using BasiEgaXorz.
