Retro Sumus are not strangers to the readers of Retro Gaming Magazine.  I have covered, the admittedly little known about it, AMEBA before.  Now, Retro Sumus are back with information on their next game, Xenocider.  For those that have not simply jumped to the video below, Xenocider is a homage to Sega’s Space Harrier.  On Dreamcast.

Right now all we have to look at is an early Youtube video posted by our friends at The Dreamcast Junkyard.  In the video we see some pretty good 3D in action.  The main character of Xenocider has a weapon on their side so it is clear this is going to be close to the Sega classic.

Space Harrier is a classic arcade title that has seen a few home releases.  This includes seeing action on the Genesis, 32X and more, even non Sega hardware over the years.

The 3D in the video shows some impressive work considering this is an independently developed title.  There are no official Sega Dreamcast development tools being used here.  That makes Xenocider all the more interesting.

There is some fog in the distance, yes even 20+ years later we still have fog.  This is also running on an actual Sega Dreamcast, not a development kit of any king.  Actual hardware.  That makes this video of Xenocider even more impressive.  The best was saved for the last though.  Xenocider is running at a solid 60 frames per second right now.  Sure, that is without enemies, fog set midways between “too close” and “quite far away” and no weapon fire on screen.  Still, this is a great start for Retro Sumus and their game Xenocider.
