Collectors of retrogames have all shared the same problem: how to display their collections without damaging them. Many have come and gone with what was thought to be good ideas. Others have simply chosen to do collection videos, pack everything up and call it a day. Is that any way to treat the great artwork that graced games of the past? I don’t think so. Neither does the team over at Linked to the Wall, LLC who have come up with an interesting display option.
Linked the Wall displays hold your game securely. Multiple platforms are covered with their wall mounts including games from the NES to the Game Gear. Even CD game discs have display cases available. As you can see in the pics and video the mounts are only for the game cartridge/CD, not the box/cases. For some that sucks but for others it is just fine with them and one less thing to fiddle with.
Backgrounds used in the promotional pictures and video are not included in the Kickstarter pledge. You will have to find your own artwork for the background as that stuff is copyrighted. This does leave you with plenty of options to customize your display of just about any game. Your Legend of Zelda III on Super Nintendo doesn’t have to be exactly like your friends display.
Coupling the mounts with the UV-resistant acrylic front will keep your labels and background from fading years after being on display. The display cases feature additional features such as corner risers, any single mount, adhesive backing and the acrylic front. There is an additional pledge requirement but for the collector just wanting to display their collection, they may be worth it.
Linked to the Wall mounts answer the conundrum that collectors face every day- how to properly display their collections. Funding still has a little more than 25 days to go so you have plenty of time to get your pledge in now. Remember, Kickstarter charges you AFTER the deadline and only if the goal is met.
