Anisotropic are working on recreating the Crash Bandicoot games using Unreal Engine 4. Crash Bandicoot was quite the eye opening title for the fledgling Sony Playstation. His 3D/2.4D antics were just too much for Sega to compete with and this helped propel the PSOne into the leading role of the era. For a period, Crash was the mascot of the Playstation. Too bad later iterations of Crash by other companies just did not match up in the quality area. That is not stopping fans from recreating the basic idea of Crash Bandicoot using the freely available Unreal Engine 4.
As can be seen in the video, Crash Bandicoot is coming along nicely. Water effects, smoke and explosions are all looking rather cool. Much more detailed than the Sony Playstation could have ever produced. More than likely there will be a C&D sent to the developers by someone at Activision (current IP holders for Crash) before this is finished so enjoy it while we can.
