Nintendo Playstation Powered On and Plays Games

Back in July this year there were claims that a Nientndo Playstation machine actually existed and so the worldwide rumor frenzy began.  Pictures and videos were popping up everywhere online with numerous claims of people having such a machine and that the machine was real – as you can imaine when these rumors and stories hit the online forums, social media and retro computing groups it made quite a buzz but many shot down these claims, leaving us to wonder, what if ? is it real ? how could this be true?

Believe it or not…. the legend that is the Nintendo Playstation looks to be legend no more….

Often ridiculed and thought of just a huge pack of lies and never to be in existence as a real machine, the Nintendo Playstation is…… wait for it….. its the real deal, so says Richard Lai.  Well like most people I am still sceptical and of course I dont belive everything i read and see……so is it really real?  The only way you can make that judgement is if you have the console in your hands for yourself but with only about 200 known prototypes that are claimed to exist, then good luck with getting your hands on one.

Earlier today, an article posted online by Richard Lai at www,engadget.com http://www.engadget.com/2015/11/06/nintendo-playstation-is-real-and-it-works/ stated that the  Nintendo Playstation is real and it works!

Just to remind everyone back in 1988 Sony developed a cutting edge cd rom drive but where not in the video game market at that stage and so they had approached and were in collaboration with Nintendo to release it in their upcoming NES console.  Unfortunately it never saw the light of day as both companies were unable to reach agreement over revenues and profits from licencing agreements.  So to cut a long story short Nintendo and Sony parted ways and the myth of the Sony Nintendo console was born but never ever proven to exist.

I’ve read Richard Lai’s article over and over numerous times and I’ve looked at all the photos and watched the video he has posted in the article and it all seems to be in my opinion quite legit.  However i still remain sceptical.

Richard Lai claims that by sheer luck a father and son from Denver of the USA, Terry and Dan Diebold’s had aquired one of the Nintendo Playstations prototypes many years ago through a compnay he had worl for closing down and having a work auction where he won an auction lot for $75 where to their suprise they had won one of these Nintendo Playstation prototypes and it had been sitting in their attic unused.  The Diebold’s were in Hong Kong for a retro gaming expo so you would think if they have it in their possession and are showing it in an event with a large number of people traffic then the actual machine woud exist and remove any doubt about it.

I have just done a search online for this Hong Kong retro expo and found one called Retro.HK.  Theres a facebook page aswell and they have made a claim that the “Hong Kong first retro game exhibition in November this year. Date TBC, special appearance, the recently discovered Sony prototype play station which uses super Nintendo cd and Nintendo cartridge will be on display for the apparently the first time in public.”

So big statements are being made for the event to draw the crowds in and an even bigger statement was made by Richard Lai’s tech guy Daniel Lee from Restart Workshop, who was brought in to carry out a number of tests on the machine to determine the Nintendo Playstation console authenticity.

Daniel Lee stated that “definitely rare in the sense that I got to confirm its existence amid its controversy because word on the street is that this doesn’t exist. But today, I got to see the real deal so I can’t discredit it. And there’s even an OS. You can’t question it. It can’t be fake. Going back to the chips we saw earlier on the logic board: NEC used to make gaming consoles, and Sony also participated here. And with Nintendo as part of this team, you just can’t discredit this.”

I am no expert in this area but its not that hard to spot a fake photo or video and with all these tests confirming that is the real deal, surley the myth is no more and the Nintendo Playstation is now confirmed…. this is the real deal or is it ?

I am a believer more than i was previously but i still remain sceptical, of all the tests they carried out they were unable to get the cd rom working yet the NES cart games worked fine, it just leaves a lingering doubt in my mind but i would suspect on what i have seen with my own eyes its telling me its real, i just hope its not some sick joke.
