Piko Interactive are no stranger to licensing thought to be dead retro gaming franchises and bringing them to the modern gamer.  One of their latest releases is Jim Power – The Lost Dimension on Valve’s Steam digital distribution service.  For those that are keeping track, Jim Power – The Lost Dimension was released on many platforms including DOS and Super Nintendo with versions planned for the Turbo Grafx-16 and Sega Genesis.  Piko have secured the rights for the DOS version and the Super Nintendo version and those are available on Steam for one low price.

You are probably re-reading the title and that first paragraph thinking about where the third game is.  Well, Piko have taken the initiative to change up the Super Nintendo port and make it easier, somewhat, to enjoy.  Keep in mind, the original Super Nintendo release is available in this package too.  Piko have added another version of the Super Nintendo game, an enhanced version.  They added a heart based hit point system, 3D parallax scrolling has been turned off (easier on the eyes) and various gameplay refinements.  Piko Interactive have also added Steam trading cards support for Jim Power – The Lost Dimension.  I am still unsure as to what those are but whatever they are, you have access to them/can use them/trade them or whatever you do with them.

Piko also have plans to add the unreleased Sega Genesis version, a soundtrack release by Chris Huelsback and even the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Jim Power – Lost Dimension in future downloadable content.  Basically, Piko are in this for the long haul and are working to give gamers the best possible experience they can.

Make sure to bring your big gamer pants because Jim Power – The Lost Dimension is hard as nails and won’t apologize for kicking your ass.  Ah, just like the good old days of retro gaming.  I like it.
