It is a rare occurrence in today’s world to see an original live action comedy.  It is even rarer to see that happen on Youtube.  Then couple in the fact that this new live action comedy on Youtube is centered on gamers and it is good, and you can see why Play! is quite an interesting opportunity.  While not on the level of something like Big Bang Theory (what is?), Play! contains all of the necessary ingredients to be a hit- if people would just watch it.

Debuting last night, October 16^th, on Youtube, Play! has started off a little slow but surely will pick up steam as more episodes are released and more fans discover it.  Gold Rush, the first episode, introduces us to four intrinsic heroes that are all about gaming (one owns a gaming store and thinks he is all that).  As with most gamers, these four are all about the scores and beating each other.  The problem is, real life gets in the way in many embarrassing ways.

Depending on how much of a prude you are about certain things there may be more than one scene here and there that will get a rise out of you.  The best option is to just sit back, enjoy Play! and see where the story goes.  You know, like a sitcom, just it is on Youtube and desperately needs your support to continue.  Rather than hitting Kickstarter with an idea, this team is just doing it, getting their hands dirty and hoping support comes sooner than later.  So, go support Play! on Youtube and give them some constructive criticism- I am almost certain they will pay more attention to your thoughts and suggestions than the producers of Big Bang Theory, The Mindy Project and the other shows that are on mainstream television right now ever will.
