Another title that is going to be debuted at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo is Clyde’s Revenge for the Atari 2600. This is another limited release by Good Deal Games and Michael Thomasson, GDG owner/founder. What is unique about Clyde’s Revenge is, well, you are taking control of the bad guy, specifically the red ghost from the Pac-Man series of games. Your goal in Clyde’s Revenge is to kill any would be heroes that are out to eat ghosts. Talk about the ultimate revenge on the good guys. Oh, your quest is not limited to just Pac-Man mazes, you are going to be traversing some pretty well known locales looking for those goody two shoes types.
Clyde’s Revenge will feature sixteen screens all interlocking to form one huge maze. Some of the iconic locations that you will hunt ghost eating good guys include areas that resemble other Atari classics. Adventure, Berserk and even an E.T. looking pit area have been shown off. The full list of locations that will be featured has not been released, there has to be some surprise and excitement for Portland Retro Gaming Expo show goers that are able to score a copy of Clyde’s Revenge.
Good Deal Games focuses on keeping classic hardware alive and kicking. They have secured the rights to, and in some cases finished development, of games for the Sega CD, Atari 2600 and even 3DO. The wealth of obscure, thought to be lost, games available on Good Deal Games’ website is like a history lesson for video game fans. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking to support homebrew and rescueware titles.
The Portland Retro Gaming Expo will be celebrating their 10th anniversary when they open on October 17th and 18th of this year. This event has grown year after year and is recognized as one of the destination shows for retrogaming fans from across the globe.
