Collectorvision Games have been steadily keeping their collective heads pointed forward over the years. Even though the RETRO VGS is currently regrouping (Collectorvision were making the pack-in title), Collectorvision are continuing work on another 2D side scrolling action game, Anna Fuda Project: Eden. Jean-Francois Dupuis, owner of Collectorvision Games, released some very basic information on Anna Fuda Project: Eden on his Facebook page earlier this evening. Jean-Francois cited several next generation platforms that they will be targeting for Anna Fuda Project Eden.
According to the little information that we have on Anna Fuda Project: Eden, it is influenced by such classic titles as Contra, Gradius and Metroid with apparent trappings from literary and film greats like Lovecraft and Giger. From the few screen shots available, I cannot really tell where any of those influences are at work, though this is an extremely early look at the game so it is likely to change. I take that back, in one screen there is a bit of Metroid influence (the purple one).
From the screens available it appears that Anna Fuda Project: Eden is going to be based, at least, partially on a space station of some sort and likely a planet full of bad guys that want you dead. Anna Fuda Project: Eden will be a 2D side scrolling run and gun title, according to Jean-Francois. This is great news for fans of this style of game.
There were comments by various people connected with Collectorvision games that they would have nearly 20 games available for the RETRO Video Game System (covered extensively here on RGM). With the recent announcement that that console will be delayed as the manufacturer regroups, I have to wonder, was Anna Fuda Project: Eden one of those likely titles?
