Venezuelan-based Babel Games has launched a campaign on Indiegogo to help fund its Blind Edge project, a fast-paced, side-scrolling hack and slash game with character development options reminiscent of role playing games for PC and mobile platforms. According to the project’s Indiegogo page, Blind Edge will be remind players of such classics as Castlevania, Megaman and Metroid.
The synopsis of the game, from the Indiegogo page reads as follows:
”The Grian station, located on moon Dhara of the planet Marama, main reason of existence of which is to work as a bridge for the space travels. The station has started to receive multiple attacks from native creatures of Dhara who were thought to be innocuous. As a member of the Defense Forces of Krysa government, your duty is to keep a group of investigators safe, since their job is to gather information about the creatures causing the attacks and determine what the reason behind that behavior is. However, as they move forward in the research they will find a particular pattern of learning in these creatures, which holds a terrifying secret.”
Your character will choose between three different classes – the defensive-specialist Juggernaut, the stealthy Striker and the gadget-centric Engineer – but can switch between the three at any time.
Babel Games has set an initial goal of $6,000 USD and 32 days to reach it in order to complete the basic game, but has included some pretty lofty stretch goals going all the way up to $80,000 in order to include the further fleshing out the story mode by developing cinematics and boss fights, more weapons, a more customizable character creation system, an open world system and even PVP.
Approximately two years after the initial concept was created, Babel Games launched the campaign on August 20, commemorating the 38th anniversary of the launch of Voyager II, which in addition to its mission to study Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, carried a message to the stars and whomever else might be out there. So too has Babel Games created Blind Edge to create a message that goes far beyond entertainment.
