Isometric Style Gameplay is Alive in Lumo Coming to Steam

Remember the good old days of isometric titles like Solstice and Q*Bert and Equinox?  Remember the frustration that you felt while playing Marble Madness or Snake Rattle and Roll?  Get ready for some of those things to make a return in Lumo.  Lumo is a new isometric title coming to Steam (Windows, Mac and Linux platforms).  What is unique about Lumo is that it uses the power of modern computers to really crank up the graphics and challenges you will face.

Touting classics such as Head Over Heels, Knightlore and Alien 8 on their Steam page, the creator of Lumo claims it will feel similar to fans of those games.  Judging by the video and screenshots available, it is not too farfetched to think the developer is close with their assumption.

There are over 150 rooms planned for Lumo, each with its own challenges and more than likely methods of ending your game abruptly.  The reason you are traversing the challenges of Lumo is to gather runes, spells and other supplies as you try to escape the dungeon like structure you are in.

One thing that will strike you as you watch the gameplay video above is the lighting in Lumo.  This is an exceptional work that helps push the viewpoint as a viable choice (rather than a gimmick to catch the eye of gamers clicking through).  There is one room that actually pays homage to Q*Bert, how cool is that?  The world is given quite a bit of aura through fog, torches that flicker and the shadows react accordingly, and shading is quite well done.  Lumo is off the charts with the feel meter, there is just so many little things going on that it is hard to get them all in words in a readable format.

Head over to Steam to check Lumo out, it is coming (it has been greenlit) someday.
