Adventure in the Tower of Flight on Steam Remembers the Nintendo Entertainment System Fondly

The Nintendo Entertainment System was an iconic gaming platform, no doubt about it (get over it Atari 7800 and Sega Master System fans).  The graphics and sounds have become second nature to both retrogamers and more recent fans alike, it is easy to pick out a Nintendo Entertainment System game.  They just have that style, or something you can’t quite put your finger on, to them that is easy to spot but hard to put into words.  Adventure in the Tower of Flight is a tribute to classic NES games of yesteryear.  One particular title that is paid homage to is Kid Icarus.

Playing as “Wing”, an adventurer that flies instead of jumps around the game world, you are tasked with traversing the towers in search of five relics.  As with most retro styled games, and real retro titles, the challenge is all in the level layout that sits between you and those relics.  To put it succinctly, you aren’t going to simply walk up to the top and then out with those relics.  Nope, there are creatures, platforms full of traps and other tricks up the sleeves of the inhabitants of those towers that will put a chink in your armor.

Graphically, Adventure in the Tower of Flight is pretty close to what you would expect out of an early Super Nintendo title, maybe a later NES title that used an MMC5 or other chip.  It is up in the air exactly where Adventure in the Tower of Flight would fall historically.  Suffice to say, the developers have captured the feel of classic NES titles and that is what they were going for (that and making a fun game- I cannot vouch on this part as I have not played it yet).

Head over to Steam to grab your copy of Adventure in the Tower of Flight.
