Alex Kidd in Miracle World Modded to Become Radaxian Rumble for Sega Master System

The Sega Master System is one of those consoles that was better than it is perceived to be by the gaming audience.  Take off the Nintendo Entertainment System colored glasses and look at the SMS with a clear head and you will see it gets a worse rap than it deserves.  While the game library is, obviously, smaller than that of the Nintendo NES, it is still an interesting mix- mostly consisting of arcade ports with quite a few original action titles sprinkled in for good measure.  Alex Kidd in Miracle World was Sega’s early answer to Super Mario Bros, Sega even packaged it with the Master System for a while.  Thought of in high regard by many fans, Alex Kidd in Miracle World had its faults- for one, it was just so good that the sequels couldn’t really hold a candle in comparison.  Homebrew ROM hackers are working on a true sequel by using the original as the base.

Alex Kidd in Radaxian Rumble uses the base game, as most ROM hacks are apt to do, but is quickly becoming something new and original.  The graphics are being worked on, sound effects are getting improved and even the physics of the game are being tweaked as development continues. Alex_Kidd_Miracle_World_Radaxian_Rumble_Sega_Rom_Hack_Master_System (1)

About Alex Kidd in Miracle World: Sega needed an action platform title to compete with Super Mario Bros from Nintendo.  Alex Kidd was chosen and several titles have been released for the Sega Master System that feature Kidd and company, there was at least one Alex Kidd title released on the Sega Genesis.  Sales of the 16-Bit game were sub-par which led Sega to venture into new territory, leaving Alex Kidd behind to history and time itself.Alex_Kidd_Miracle_World_Radaxian_Rumble_Sega_Rom_Hack_Master_System (2)

About ROM hacking:  ROM hacking requires the user to obtain a copy of the game code that is being used.  There are devices that will allow you to do this somewhat legally under current copyright laws.  The hack file is legally distributable, it is the required game code that is illegal to obtain unless you make it yourself, and even then it is a gray area in the eyes of the law.  Retro Gaming Magazine is not responsible for damages, financially or otherwise, you may incur by attempting to use ROM hacks that we discuss.  Any action taken on the part of the reader is their own.
