Okay, Grandia II has already been released on personal computers, it hit way back in 2002. This new release is based on the Sega Dreamcast version though, I am not sure what the 2002 version was based on. The main bonus material featured in the original port to PC are probably better known as bugs- animation freezes, video files not working right and even a game halting bug in the first act (about on par for Temple of Elemental Evil when it first hit). This new port is going to improve on that earlier attempt, it can’t be worse judging by the problems listed above. This new version is based on the Sega Dreamcast version of the game, recognized by critics of the time as the best version of Grandia II.
Coming to PC means a few things, particularly based on how it is released. Since GungHo are using Steam for this release we can expect a few things of interest. Trading cards, achievements and other Steam features will be on hand. Also, mouse, keyboard and controller support are purported to be included in this Steam port. This is great news for fans of the game.
At this time information is a little scarce as to exactly what we can expect from this port. No word on if this will be an “HD” re-release, no word as to whether this will add additional content such as quests and characters or anything else, really. The release date is not even set in stone yet.
There are a lot of fans out there that would like to see a modern PC remake of either Lunar title, I am one of them. I got into the Lunar games with Eternal Blue on the Sega CD and found the game engrossing and interesting. I only stopped playing due to having to leave for Marine Boot.

Yeah! I loved Grandia II and I would totally buy it for the computer. The battle system was unique and I want to give it another try. I never tried the Dreamcast version (I think I had it for the PS2?) and it sounds like fun.
