Robocop versus Terminator for Nintendo Entertainment System Now Available

Unreleased titles that receive unofficial releases by fans are a dubious endeavor to say the least.  For most gamers it is a very wide gray area that they are sometimes fine with traversing depending on the title(s) in question.  For many, an unofficial Star Fox 2 on cartridge release is worthwhile, but how many feel the same for say, Robocop versus Terminator on the Nintendo Entertainment System?

There is no real need for an introduction, other than padding the word count here, but I will give a short one.  Robocop and Terminator are sci-fi movies that involve cyborgs and guns.  One is a cop (guess which) and the other is a killer (again, betcha can’t guess which is which).  There, you are now up to date.

Robocop versus Terminator seemed like the crossover for sci-fi fans to get excited about- kind of like that whole Freddy versus Jason thing that fizzled both franchises out.  Originally Robocop versus Terminator was planned for a lot of systems but it was cancelled on one particular platform- the Nintendo Entertainment System.  During the period that Robocop versus Terminator was to release gamers were dropping the Nintendo NES like a hot potato and Virgin, the publisher for this title, dropped the platform also.  That sucks for fans.

The interesting thing about this version is the pedigree behind it.  Gregg Taveress was the main programmer for Robocop versus Terminator.  Don’t know that name all that well?  He was the man behind MC Kids for the Nintendo NES.  Also, Robocop versus Terminator is recognized as the first NES title to be released via emulation- quite a dubious “honor” to hold.

What we have here is an unreleased title that someone has gotten a production copy of the game and released it.  Thanks to Chipmasters you can purchase a copy of Robocop versus Terminator for your Nintendo Entertainment System.  I am unsure what “version” of Robocop versus Terminator this is but it is probably late in development, if not complete.

Head over to Chipmasters to purchase a copy of Robocop versus Terminator for the Nintendo NES.
