Collectorvision have just reached their $20,000 goal on IndieGoGo, with about three days to go. Along with this news, they have released some screenshots of level 2 of their new Super Nintendo Entertainment System game, Justice Beaver. The second level is a lava themed affair that is akin the later castle levels of Super Mario Bros that featured a lot of fire in unique ways. Shots after the jump.
Initially Collectorvision set their goal at $20,000, which they just achieved. There is one stretch goal listed on their IndieGoGo campaign page set at $30,000. If this single stretch goal is reached we can expect to see Justice Beaver ported to the Nintendo Game Boy Advance hand held. This is an achievable goal within the time left if those sitting on the fence thinking they would back this if it gets funded would simply throw in their support.
Justice Beaver, for those that have not been following our coverage, is a 2D side scrolling action platform title that is heavily influenced by Rick Dangerous. Rick Dangerous is a property currently held by Square Enix, who have clearly expressed no interest in reviving the property- nor allowing others to do so. Since Rick Dangerous will only live on in “illegal” ports that means those of us that wish to enjoy a new 2D side scrolling action platform title on the SNES need to focus our efforts on Justice Beaver.
Backers of Justice Beaver on the Super Nintendo can have had a few choices as to how their cartridge and box will come in. The blue limited edition cartridge is gone but the red one is still available (what Super Nintendo carts came on colored carts? What colors were they?).
We will continue our coverage of Justice Beaver as it develops. New games for the Super Nintendo are not as popular as we would like them to be, and the ones we get are rarely of this level of quality.
