Uwol the Quest for Money has hit most of the major retrogaming platforms from the Sega Genesis to the Super Nintendo. Now, thanks to Atari Age member Alekmaul, Uwol is coming to the Colecovision platform. This will mark yet another Colecovision cartridge release planned for 2015, which is quickly turning into a potentially expensive year for retro fans.
Originally a Mojon Twins release, Uwol has been ported by fans to many platforms such as Android and Commodore 64, and the aforementioned SNES and Genesis. The backstory to Uwol is pretty simple, really. It is all about greed. Just like Scrooge McDuck, minus the marketing power of Disney, so to speak.
Uwol has a thing for money, probably much like most of us, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to get more of it, unlike most of us. While looking around for money one day, Uwol hears about a pyramid that is full of gold coins just laying around waiting to be taken by someone. The only catch is, this pyramid is inhabited by a lot of bad guys that were never taught how to share or how to let go of anything. Think mean, rich, packrats and you will be close to understanding the baddies in Uwol the Quest for Money. This is true for all versions of Uwol.
There are hints that Collectorvision may be connected to this version of Uwol the Quest for Money. I just got confirmation that Collectorvision will be publishing Uwol the Quest for Money on the Colecovision console.
What is a game, no matter which one, would you like to see ported to the Colecovision console? Would you like to see Super Mario Bros or a version of something like Halo?
Uwol the Quest for Money coming to Colecovision will be available at least in ROM format. If a publisher can be found a cartridge version could be made available.
