Super hero games are a mainstay of gaming, go ahead, look at the games available on whatever “decently” popular platform you want. From Atari 2600 to the Sega Genesis and onto newer platforms such as Xbox 360 and PS3- super hero games are here to stay. Here at Retro Gaming Magazine we like to bring news about new games that were lost, never heard of before, or have been changed by fans to become something all new, or just a teeny bit different. That is why I am excited to bring news about a little title that Rose Colored Gaming are working on, Shadowhawk for the Super Nintendo.
You may remember Rose Colored Gaming from their recent announcement that they are working on a special edition of Star Fox 2 (a title that was never released, though the Japanese version is pretty much complete). With Shadowhawk we are talking about another title that never saw an official release- in fact, the only thing we know about Shadowhawk is based on a few blurry screenshots posted by Gamespot, way back (about three resells or so) when they were known as Videogames.com (hence the V watermark).
From the screens we can deduce that Shadowhawk was going to be another side scrolling, 2D, action adventure- something like Batman: The Animated Series on Super NES. Also shown in the pictures is a one on one fighting game as evidenced by the health bars and names across the top of the screen and there being only two characters on screen. It is unclear if this is two different gameplay choices or if this is how boss battles were intended to play out.
As of right now, the only thing that Rose Colored Gaming has shown off is the teaser image above. When we have more information on Shadowhawk we will post it ASAP.
