Paco Jet, originally released on Covertape #2 by the Mojon Twins is getting slight name change to Jet-Paco and is now available on the Nintendo Entertainment System.  Jet-Paco is not a scrolling shooter but rather it is a side scrolling action puzzle game, similar to Solomon’s Key.  Since this is the Mojon Twins, you know it is going to be a quality, and interesting, release.

The story behind Jet-Paco is all about space.  See, the problem you are facing in this new NES title is a lack of fuel for your ship.  Luckily for you the energy crystals that your ship uses, Energonia, just happens to be floating nearby in, what is expected to be, an abandoned space ship.  Sadly, as we all know from countless trips through dark and dank, cold, space craft that are adrift, they are NEVER simply empty.

These crystals are also valuable and your employer, the Tecnohúngaro Empire, will pay handsomely for whatever you don’t use for fuel.  Disregarding all possible dangers your character Paco Rebollez dons his special space suit, which is powered by a thermonuclear cell (is there any other kind?).  This suit is special because it allows you to use thrusters to rise in the level so that you can avoid obstacles and potential enemies you may encounter.

Paco Jet originally hit the ZX Spectrum via the Covertape #2 release from the Mojon Twins.  They have seen fit to release it under the modified name Jet-Paco for the NES so that more gamers can enjoy it.  Side scrolling action puzzle fans definitely check Jet-Paco out, we don’t get 2D side scrolling titles all that often, though they are becoming more and more abundant.
